Most of us love burgers, but the ones from the shop can be expensive. So why not cook your own? It’s cheap, simple and, unlike the shop-bought ones, you know exactly what’s in them and you can add whatever you like – mint with lamb, leftover vegetables, etc.
- Minced meat of your choice
- 1 onion finely chopped (optional)
- 1 large spoon of mixed herbs
- 1 egg yolk
Not everyone likes onions, but if you do, for best results, partly cook your onions by frying them in butter first. This softens them up a little and makes sure that the onions are cooked through. Add your minced meat to a large mixing bowl with the herbs, partly cooked onions and egg yolk. Add your breadcrumbs and mix well.

No matter what title you may give it, be it housewife or stay at home mum, a housewife’s work is never done. Nor does it get the recognition that it deserves. You are cook, cleaner and nursemaid at all times. All these things are pretty much taken for granted. It’s like there is some unwritten law for these things to be done every day.
For the most part, the husband comes home from work, and that’s his work done for the day. The housewife, however, carries on regardless of the hour or how long they have been awake. It may be hard work, but it does come with some rewards, for example, you may wash and clean numerous times a day, but that in itself gives you the satisfaction of knowing that your house is more presentable for guests.
